Who We Are

Dr. Trenor Williams and Anita Samarth launched Clinovations, LLC, an organization dedicated to providing advisory services and management consulting to healthcare delivery systems, national associations and government organizations. Clinovations often partners with members of the Clinovations Collaborative and its extended network of experts from around the country. This combined team of clinical and operational leaders has extensive experience in solving strategic, clinical and IT problems for a wide range of healthcare clients.

Trenor Williams, MD

Dr. Williams is the CEO and co-founder of Clinovations leading CPOE implementation, ambulatory EHR strategy, and clinical transformation engagements. Currently leading inpatient and ambulatory HIT engagements at MedStar Health, Valley Health System and Adventist Health Care. Over the last seven years he has been the clinical consulting leader for Deloitte Consulting and IBM/Healthlink. Experienced in benefits realization, physician adoption, clinical transformation strategies, consumer market strategy, and working with 3rd party content vendors to develop evidence-based medicine clinical content.

Dr. Williams is Associate Editor of the book Improving Medication Use and Outcomes with Clinical Decision Support: A Step-by-Step Guide, which received the 2009 HIMSS Book of the Year Award. Prior to beginning his consulting career in 2002, Trenor was the Medical Director of Family Practice at Mammoth Hospital in California and was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, M.D. from Marshall University, and completed his family practice residency at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles.

Anita Samarth

Ms. Samarth is the President and Co-Founder of Clinovations with more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare and technology industries. She is currently leading EHR/PHR benefits realization efforts and methodology for Clinovations and its clients and working as a SME for an AHRQ project synthesizing findings from six state/regional HIE efforts. Recently Anita led TA activities for the AHRQ National Resource Center for Health Information Technology (2005-2009), led SMEs and authored select American Health Information Community (AHIC) Use Cases for ONC, and led certification development for Electronic Prescribing and Interoperability for CCHIT.

Ms. Samarth previously led GE’s Clinical Consulting practice, during which she was trained in Six Sigma, Change Acceleration Process, and LEAN. She also led HIT strategic planning efforts for large health systems as a manager at First Consulting Group (now CSC) and is an experienced implementer of EHRs and HIT solutions. Ms. Samarth holds Bachelor of Science degrees from Johns Hopkins University in Biomedical Engineering and in Electrical Computer Engineering

Ted Eytan, MD, MPH, MS

Dr. Ted Eytan provides services with Clinovations as an Associate Principal.He is also currently the Medical Director, Delivery Systems Operations Improvement for the Permanente Federation, LLC.Previously, Dr. Eytan was the Medical Director of Health Informatics and Web Services, in the Quality & Informatics Division of Group Health.He worked closely with other physicians and technologists at Group Health to bring members useful information and decision-making health tools, to ensure that patients have an active role in their own health care.

Dr. Eytan is board certified in family practice. He has relocated to Washington, DC, from Seattle, working in the area of patient-centered health care enabled by technology, with organizations including the California Healthcare Foundation.
He attended medical school at the University of Arizona.He received his master’s of public health degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his master’s of science, health services degree from the University of Washington.He completed his residency training at Group Health and his fellowship training in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Washington in 2000.

Lygeia Ricciardi, EdM

Ms. Ricciardi is the Executive Director of Consumer Health at Clinovations. The Consumer Health practice works to engage consumers in their health and health care through information and tools. On the non-profit side, we support leading consumer advocacy organizations such as the National Partnership for Women and Families on strategic planning and policy analysis. On the for profit side, we work with Bon Secours and other health systems to give patients direct electronic access to their own health information.

Ms. Ricciardi is also the Founder and Principal of Clear Voice Consulting, a health information technology consulting company focused on consumers and patients. Her clients include the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the New York State Department of Health, the California HealthCare Foundation, and the Center for Democracy and Technology. She is a frequent blogger and speaker on topics related to consumers and health.

Previously, Ms Ricciardi was a Director of the Health Program at the Markle Foundation. She has also worked on health and technology strategy, policy, and implementation at the Federal Communications Commission, MaMaMedia (a web site for learning through play), and Harvard Business School, where she analyzed the impact of new media on policy and business. Her education includes a BA (Phi Beta Kappa) from Wellesley College, an EdM in Technology in Education from Harvard, and independent graduate work at the MIT Media Lab.

Rodrigo Martinez, MD

Dr. Rodrigo Martinez is a Senior Manager with Clinovations and a double board-certified, fellowship-trained ENT/Facial Plastic Surgeon with 14 years of experience in clinical medicine in both academic and community hospitals. As a consultant, Dr. Martinez has focused on developing clinical IT adoption strategies, developing clinical content, and  motivating others to lead organizational change.

Prior to joining our team, Dr. Martinez worked as a Physician Consultant for McKesson Provider Technologies where he partnered with numerous clients across the country to help drive physician adoption of computerized patient management and order entry systems. He is a skilled educator and facilitator. 

Greg Fuller

Mr. Fuller is a Manager with Clinovations and possesses a deep understanding of HIT and evidence based medicine (EBM) trends, drivers, and challenges facing the healthcare industry. For the previous 5 years, he was a Manager at Avalere Health, where he worked extensively on the Federal HIT Strategic Plan released in June 2008. Significant expertise on issues including HIT legislation and regulation, EHRs, electronic prescribing (eRx), telehealth and remote monitoring, regional health information organizations (RHIOs), the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model, and CER. Mr. Fuller has led and assisted clients with developments in public policy and legislative, regulatory, and budgetary changes related to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors.

He has extensive experience tracking the evolution of Federal efforts to support the adoption of HIT and promote nationwide HIE. He holds a B.A. in Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University and has completed graduate-level coursework in public health and health policy at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

Jeremy Wong

Mr. Wong is a Consultant with Clinovations and provides research, analysis, and project management support to Clinovations health IT projects. He is currently working as the lead research associate on a AHRQ-funded project to synthesize findings from its six state/regional HIE demonstration projects. He is also providing project management and coordination services for an ambulatory EHR strategy and selection project for Adventist HealthCare.

Mr. Wong previously worked for the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC), where he facilitated collaboration and consensus regarding health IT implementations in New York State. He also previously worked with the Life Sciences Practice at Navigant Consulting conducting secondary research, reviewing scientific literature, and assessing partnership opportunities. He holds a bachelor’s of science in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Jamie Marraccini

Mr. Marraccini is responsible for overseeing the operational and financial performance of the company. His focus on operations management is specialized in corporate development, capital decision-making, strategic partnerships, and intellectual property licensing. Mr. Marraccini possesses hands-on experience in the entire business lifecycle from start-up to exit and establishing the processes and systems needed for each stage.

He has worked in a variety of industries worldwide, including medical devices, telecommunications, information security consulting, government contracting, and a variety of software solutions. Mr. Marraccini serves on the board of directors of several technology companies.

A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Marraccini attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering.
