Our Services
The Clinovations advisory services practice is based in the Washington DC/Baltimore area and has extensive experience in assisting healthcare systems and clinician leaders in the planning, implementation, training, support and optimization of clinical information systems. Our team is comprised of clinical and operational leaders who bring practical skills and problem solving capabilities to all of our clients. In addition to our core consulting team, we have assembled a clinical advisory group of national experts from around the country. Our physicians and consulting leaders work with the physicians and executives from hospital systems and other organizations to engage them fully in each project and help build the foundation for successful long-term initiatives.

Our consulting services currently target four types of clients: Healthcare Provider Organizations, Non-Profit/National Organizations, Federal Government, and State Government.

Healthcare Provider Systems

For healthcare systems we provide advisory consulting services in both ambulatory and inpatient settings. We focus primarily on patient safety and quality initiatives, organizational strategy and health care technology implementation. Our team has extensive experience partnering with organizations to support their electronic medical record system projects. These engagements include system selections, pre-implementation planning, clinical content strategy, system implementation, physician engagement, training, support and optimization.

National Initiatives and Government

For national initiatives, such as federal government, state government, and non-profit programs, our advisory consulting services provide private sector subject matter expertise and leadership to the public sector. We focus on developing strategies for funding programs, capturing and disseminating findings and lessons learned, convening stakeholders, and providing overall leadership to these initiatives to support and inform organizational decision-making and health policy. These engagements include management and leadership services, strategic planning, methodology development, qualitative research and evaluation, white paper/report development, and communications strategies.

Client Profile

University Health Systems (UHS) is a six hospital system in Eastern North Carolina. In November of 2008, UHS went live with Epic's EMR, including CPOE and physician documentation, in three of their hospitals. This impressive three hospital go-live completed the clinical roll-out for all six of their hospitals.

Clinovations provided services to UHS for go-live support, EMR optimization and long-term physician enagement strategies.

Dr. Clyde Brooks, system CMIO, said that "the bottom line is that Dr. Williams understands the need to move our industry to leave paper and the 19th century. Healthcare is in need of more leaders like Dr. Williams who can translate our needed path to physicians and other leaders in health care. He has a gift at communicating how to get there."
